NIS America have announced that Rodea the Sky Soldier will be heading to Nintendo Wii U and 3DS this year. In addition to Japan, the game will also be launching in North America and Europe.
Rodea the Sky Soldier is a flight orientated action game from Yuji Naka (lead programmer for Nights into Dreams and Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 & 3). The game’s original version was completed back in 2011 with the intention of a Wii / 3DS release, but was ultimately postponed by it’s publishers Kadokawa Games. Fast forward to 2015 and Rodea the Sky Soldier finally sees the light of day once again, now with it’s focus shifted towards to the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS platforms.
Taking control of the game’s protagonist Rodea, players are tasked with saving the Kingdom of Garuda from the Naga Empire’s army invasion. Rodea isn’t your usual citizen though, he’s a mechanical soldier who’s been out of action of over 1,000 years. Ion (a Garuda inventor) discovers Rodea’s broken down body within a scorching desert and sets about repairing him. When Rodea wakes up, he not only find he’s 1,000 years in the future, but to keep an ancient promise, will once again need to protect Garuda.
